  • 1/4 cup(s) Margarine
  • 1/4 cup(s) flour
  • 4 cup(s) whole milk
  • 1 stalk(s) escallion, chopped
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 clove(s) garlic, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon(s) Grace Hot Pepper Sauce
  • 1 cup(s) Cheddar Cheese, grated
  • 2 pound(s) Grace Long Grain White Rice, boiled
  • 1 can(s) Grace Mixed Vegetables, drained
  • 1/2 teaspoon(s) salt, optional
  • 2 ounce(s) cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup(s) breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon(s) paprika

Baked Rice & Cheese Directions

  1. Melt Grace Hello Margarine in a saucepan and add the flour.  Stir constantly until the mixture is smooth.
  2. Pour in the milk, a little at a time, and continue stirring to avoid lumping.  Add the chopped escallion, onion, garlic and hot pepper sauce.
  3. Turn off the flame; mix in the grated cheese until it melts.
  4. Fold in the boiled rice, mixed vegetables and salt, if used.
  5. Scrape the mixture into a lightly greased casserole.  Grate on the cheese, sprinkle evenly with breadcrumbs then top with paprika.  Clean the edge of the dish.
  6. Bake in a preheated oven, 350°F/180°C for 20 minutes.
