Wash and sterilize a jar with a tight fitting lid.
Zest peel of orange and reserve.
Combine raisins, currants and prunes. Add grated nutmeg and orange zest.
Pour on red wine and white rum until fruits are completely covered. Mix well.
Pour into an airtight jar and leave to stand for 2 - 3 weeks.
NOTE:
- Cherries may also be added.
- Zest peel (to grate the skin of an orange).
- Fruits can also be blanched in boiling water for 5 minutes, then add remaining ingredients and use as desired.
