The Beginning
LEADING THE WAY SINCE 1922.
After W.R. Grace & Co. decided to sell its Jamaican branch during an economic downturn, Dr. John Grace chose to retain the business with the support of Fred W. Kennedy. On February 14, 1922, Grace, Kennedy & Company Limited was officially established.
The following day, the first Board meeting appointed key officers, bankers, and advisers. The company performed well in its first year, and shareholders approved its first dividend in 1923.
This marked the beginning of what would become one of the Caribbean's leading companies.
