  • 2 teaspoon(s) Grace Caribbean Traditions All Purpose Seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon(s) garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon(s) black pepper
  • 1 medium onion, grated
  • 4 clove(s) garlic, grated
  • 1 stalk(s) escallion, finely minced
  • 2 sprig(s) thyme (leaves only)
  • 2 tablespoon(s) Worcestershire Sauce*
  • 1 teaspoon(s) pepper flakes**
  • 1 cup(s) flour
  • 1/4 cup(s) Grace Vegetable Oil (for frying)
  • To Make Sauce:
  • 1 tablespoon(s) Grace Vegetable Oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 4 clove(s) garlic, chopped
  • 2 teaspoon(s) Grace Caribbean Traditions All Purpose Seasoning
  • 3 teaspoon(s) salt
  • 1 can(s) tomato paste (8 ozs.)
  • 1 can(s) tomato sauce (8 ozs)
  • 3 teaspoon(s) pepper flakes
  • 2 tablespoon(s) dark soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoon(s) Grace Scotch Bonnet Hot Pepper Sauce - Yellow
  • 1 cup(s) Grace Tomato Ketchup
  • 3 cup(s) water
  • 1 cup(s) Spaghetti Sauce (optional)
  • 1 cup(s) tomato, diced
  • 2 tablespoon(s) Grace Fish and Meat Sauce
  • 1/4 cup(s) powdered parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup(s) Anchor Cheddar Cheese
  • To Prepare Spaghetti:
  • 12 cup(s) water
  • 1 teaspoon(s) salt
  • 1 packet(s) Grace Spaghetti
  • 2 clove(s) garlic, shredded
  • 1 tablespoon(s) Grace Vegetable Oil
  • 1/4 cup(s) powdered parmesan cheese

Spaghetti and Meat Balls Directions

  1. Place ground beef in a bowl, add all ingredients EXCEPT flour and mix well.
  2. Gently combine all the ingredients with your hands or with a spoon, until just mixed together.  Do not overwork or the meatballs will become tough.
  3. Cover and leave to marinate for 30 minutes.
  4. Add half (1/2) cup flour to the seasoned beef.
  5. Divide into 12 equal pieces and shape into balls.
  6. Heat frying pan then add Grace Vegetable Oil.
  7. Use the remaining flour to dust the meat balls.
  8. Add floured meat balls to frying pan and fry for ten minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Remove from pan, drain on absorbent paper and set aside.

    To Make Sauce:
  10. In a heated deep pan add Grace Vegetable Oil, chopped onion, garlic, Grace Caribbean Traditions All Purpose Seasoning, salt, tomato paste, tomato sauce, pepper flakes, soy sauce, hot pepper sauce, Grace Tomato Ketchup and water.
  11. Combine and leave to cook for 10 minutes.
  12. Add Prego Sauce, if used, diced tomato, Grace Fish and Meat Sauce, Parmesan cheese and shredded Anchor Cheddar Cheese.
  13. Add meat balls to the sauce, lower flame and simmer for 30 minutes.
  14. Boil Grace Spaghetti in boiling water until al dente (about 8 minutes).  drain, add shredded garlic and Grace Vegetable Oil, mix well and set aside.
  15. Arrange Grace Spaghetti on a platter and place meatballs on top, dust with Parmesan cheese, if desired.

    Recipe Note:

    en-GBGrace Fish and Meat Sauce can be substituted with Worcestershire Sauce.
    en-GBen-GB Chopped scotch bonnet pepper can be substituted, adjust to taste.
    Chopped basil may be added to the dish.
    To enhance flavour, seasoned ground beef may be allowed to marinate for 2 - 4 hours or overnight, if desired.

    Worcestershire Sauce: a thin, dark, rather piquant (spicy) sauce used to season meats, gravies and soups.
    Al dente: an Italian phrase meaning "to the tooth," used to describe pasta or other food that is cooked only until it offers a slight resistance when bitten into, but which is not soft or overdone.
